From the Columbus Bar Association News:
"The lawyers I admire most are those that exhibit a consistent
pattern of professionalism by courteous and considerate conduct
In and out of the courtroom. They can demonstrate this quality
in their respective practices without losing any effect as an
advocate but they gain admiration from their colleagues." said
John Nemeth. "By doing this, young lawyers will be contributing
to enhancing the overall reputation of our profession and still
gaining the confidence of their clients." |

| That is what Nemeth, partner in John C. Nemeth & Associates, would
tell the graduating law school classes of 1992. And he tries to
practice what he preaches.
"There will be occasions when you need to be firm and uncompromising with your opposing counsel or times perhaps they'll appear that way to you." Nemeth continued. "Not all cases can be settled despite efforts to the contrary." Nemeth was drawn to the practice of law when he followed the Sam Shepard case while he was in high school. "I had an interest in it, especially the defense lawyer, F. Lee Bailey." he said. Following graduation in 1970 from The Ohio State University Law School, Nemeth spent about two years in the Franklin County Public Defenders Office before going into partnership with James Graham. Nemeth left briefly in 1974 to practice on his own. He returned and, In 1978, following a merger, the firm was known as Graham, Dutro & Nemeth. The firm became John C. Nemeth & Associates following Dutro's death In 1984 and Graham's appointment to a federal judgeship in 1986.Nemeth's area of practice is civil litigation, primarily Insurance defense matters, legal malpractice and product liability claims. While at the public defender's office Nemeth had his first death penalty case defending a person accused of first degree murder. "Things were going pretty well and then Jim O'Grady and Mike Miller (Franklin County Prosecutors Office) came by my desk and put a picture of the victim in front of me and I almost got sick," Nemeth said. "I developed a lot of respect for them. My client was found not guilty which vas great for me because I thought they (O'Grady and Miller) walked on water." His hobbies include golf, tennis now skiing, jogging and reading. Nemeth has three children, Chris, Meagan and Ashley. |
